Lakes and Lancs SpoCo aims to encourage the use of “Sporting” courses for cycle Time Trials as an alternative to the use of traffic-laden dual-carriageway courses. It does this by means of collating and publishing league tables for selected events, mainly in Cumbria and Lancashire, but also including neighbouring areas.

A massive event featuring all the local clubs over a few mths racing sees us take top spot. The top three riders count overall. Craig Steele, Darren Brackwell and Kieran Lacey. Craig also wins the seniors prize too.
Other riders have also taken part though with Martyn Uttley and Eamonn Quinn placing highly their categories. Graham Carrick rode 4 events andJohn Evason, Chris Anderson and David Huck also represented the club.
Great result and shows the strength of racing in the club.
In the final event today Craig was first and Darren was second! Also good rides for Kieran and Martyn.
Allen Valley Velo
Well, maybe not smash but a win by 2 seconds. Richard Bickley must hate me. Great team performance with Kie 7th and Daz 11th. There was a team prize but they hadn’t done the maths before we left. If ever there was a TT for Dave Huck – 2700 ft of ascent in the first 17M with an 8M roll to the finish. Basically a triple hill climb. Not my idea of fun in these conditions.
Tough going at the Shap SPOCO hill climb today. Serious competition with James Gullen of Pedal Heaven (top ranked UK domestic pro in 2016 and just gone faster than Wiggins for 10 miles) and Tejvan Pettinger (former National Hill Climb Champion). Unsurprisingly they were 1st and 2nd. Surprisingly for me I got 3rd and 1st of the SPOCO riders 😀. Kieran Lacey got 22nd and Darren Brackwell 25th provisionally so more points towards the club competition we have a good chance of winning. Good effort fellas, that was a proper suffer fest.
Coast Rd 21

That keeps the club top in standings with many of the riders also high up in the individual standings overall.

Strong rides all round which now leaves LRC sitting second in the overall table only 7 points from the top position.
