As an update it turns out that the organisers had made an error and later it came to light that in fact it wasn’t the Lakes that had won, but Barrow Central Wheelers won the interclub competition, with the combined times of Johnny Hill, Colin McKenna and Stuart Garnett beating Kev, Chris and Jon’s combined time by just 32 seconds!
So, well done lads and commiserations Kev, Chris and Jon!
Still, not bad, the combined might of the the 2 Furness based clubs taking on the rest of the region and getting a 1-2! Well done all round!
Lakes Road Club riders have been in action over the weekend, with the Lakes RC winning the Mens Interclub Competition in the second event of Kent Valley Road Club’s double header TT weekend, the Edwin Howson Memorial 25 mile TT.
This 25 mile event on the L2524 course on Sunday morning had a full field of 90 riders registered and the top three men in each club counted towards the total club time.
It wasn’t a great day, dry but with a strong headwind on some legs which, due to the nature of the course meant it they had to be ridden twice!
Kevin Chadwick, Chris Anderson and Johnathon Brown set a combined time of 2:57:46 to set the fastest mens club time – well done lads.
The fourth Lakes rider in the event was Richard Dixon who came in just one place behind Jon Brown.
The first event of the weekend was the KVRC on the preceding evening, which had similar windy conditions and was also a tough ride.
The results for this event have yet to be published, but from a full field of 150, Lakes riders Kev Chadwick, Chris Anderson and Richard Dixon all took part, against some of the top riders in the country, including JLT Condor professional James Gullen.
And, yes, doing the 25 mile TT less than 12 hours after finishing the 10 mile TT is hard work.
Great rides all round, and a great result for the Lakes RC! Well done lads!
