The TT season continues at top speed, with 6 Lakes riders taking part in the BCW midweek 10 last Wednesday, 12th July 2017. The event was scheduled as a 25 miler but a traffic accident on part of the course meant that this had to be reduced to a 10, run on the standard Haverthwaite course.
It was a warm night with not much wind – although the wind had more of an effect on times than its strength suggested.
Dave Huck came in first of the 27 riders with a time of 20:47! Dave’s stellar season continues! However, Kev Chadwick came in a fantastic second, pushing Dave all the way again, with a superb time of 21:11. One can only imagine how fast Kev would be going if he hadn’t broken his collarbone early season!
Chris Anderson maintained his good form for 6th place with 22:27 – great ride Chris!
Jon Brown was the next Lakes rider home in 16th place with a PB of 23:59 – breaking the 24 minute / 25 miles per hour barrier – no mean feat, well done Jon! Richard Dixon was one place behind in a respectable 24:20. Max Nicholson followed close behind him in 19th with a 24:42, also a PB – nice one Max!
The final Lakes rider home was Josh Murphy in 25th place with a 26:38 and…a PB for Josh too, to complete a trio of Lakes riders PB’s on the night – well done all!
The Lakes & Lancs SpoCo series for 2017 has also ended, with Lakes rider Eamonn Quinn finishing the series in a very impressive 10th place overall in the M50 – 60 category – and 30th overall across the whole series – from a total of 241 riders! Congratulations Eamonn, a great season!
Eamonn rode the last event of the series on the 8th July, the Border City Wheelers 22 on the tough L222 Greystoke course, completing it in a time of 1:03:52 for 29th on the day – good effort Eamonn!
