The more eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a slight error in the timelines of the previous post – in that the author forgot about a TT in between the cancelled TT’s and last Wednesday’s 10 – even though he rode it!
The race in question was due to be a 25 mile TT on the Haverthwaite course, but this was shortened to a 20 mile event on slightly different course because of…..you guessed it, roadworks.
This required some more marshals, so firstly, thanks to the BCW and the individual marshals for responding so quickly.
Its actually a tough course, making a couple of laps from Haverthwaite to the Greenodd and Newby Bridge roundabouts, finishing back at Haverthwaite. This means it takes in the delightful false flats up to the Haverthwaite Steam Railway and through Backbarrow…twice!
A good start list of 32 on a reasonable night was lead in by Dave Huck, continuing his brilliant season with a super fast time of 42:59. A superb ride by Kevin Chadwick meant that he was the first of the 6 Lakes RC riders, in second overall with 43:50. A great ride, especially considering Kev has been out of action for a good while as a result of a broken collar bone in an early season crash – well done Kev!
Chris Anderson was the next Lakes rider, in 6th place with a 45:08 – another great ride. Jon Brown came in 17th in 48:50, followed by Eamonn Quinn with a 49:09 in 19th and Richard Dixon just one place behind in 20th with 49:54.
Steve Morrison did a great ride for 23rd place with a 51:37, to round out the Lakes riders.
Another good effort by all concerned, and particularly good result by Kev!
