The TT season continues with some great rides by the Lakes RC team!
23rd May saw the inaugural running of the new BCW 15 mile TT based around the Haverthwaite 10 course, on a lovely warm night, that was pretty good but with a deceptively strong headwind in places.
33 riders lined up at the start, with the event being won by Tom Martin (Wheelbase), putting his new TT bike to good use with a stunning time of 30:50! Kev Chadwick continues his great run, coming in 4th place with a 32:52, just 2 seconds off 3rd place – great ride Kev.
Chris Anderson also continued his good run of performances, coming in joint 4th with a 33:24 – nice ride Chris.
Next Lakes RC rider home was Richard Dixon in 10th place with a 36:12 – annoying missing the magic 25 mph average by 12 seconds, after getting badly and purposefully held up by a car at one of the turns.
He was followed by Steve Morrison in 15th, a great ride for the young Sam Stephenson in 19th and Chris Bugler in 21st.
The final Lakes riders to cross the line were Amy Whelan, just beating partner Ian Barnes by 2 seconds for 23rd place -= great ride guys and well done Amy!
The following week saw the second running of the Circuit of Coniston TT – on a rainy but at least warm night. Dave Huck (BCW) was fastest with a brilliant sub 40 minute ride of 39:25, followed very closely – just 14 seconds in arrears – by Kev Chadwick, who is really flying now!
Well done Kev, storming ride!
Russ Atherton came out of TT retirement to give it a go, recording a great time of 43:23 for 11th out of the 31 riders who took to the start line.
Max Nicholson came in 15th with a 45:33, with Ian Barnes not far behind in 17th. The final Lakes rider was Amy Whelan who came in a creditable 27th in what is a tough event.
Well done to everybody, great efforts all round!
