Time Trial Update #6

The local TT scene is in full flight, with plenty of Lakes RC riders entering events and giving it a go!

The 6th June saw the running of the Barrow Central Wheelers 10 mile TT on the Coast Road, with the winning time from the field of 34 starters being set by local young star Tom Martin (Wheelbase) who won the event with a time of 21:49 – the 4th fastest time ever on the course.  there was a very close battle for second place, with Lakes rider Kev Chadwick just – by 2 seconds – missing out on 2nd, being beaten to it by BCW’s Scott Smith, who recorded a time of 22:51, with Kev on 22:53 – both great rides.

Next Lakes rider to finish was Jon Brown in 8th with a 25:34 and a course PB to boot – well done Jon!  Richard Dixon came in 10th with a 26:09, just ahead of a trio of Lakes riders – Josh Murphy in 12th with a 26:14, Max Nicholson in 13th with  26:20 and Phil Smith in 14th with a 26:26!  Its really close in that midfield!

Chris Bugler put in a good ride to record a 27:28 for 20th.  Ian Barnes continued his upward trajectory to record a course PB with 28:21 – well done Ian, good effort!

Last but not least amongst the Lakes riders  was Mike Benson, giving his TT bike its first airing t record a 30:43 for 31st – well done Benno!

The following Wednesday saw the BCW 10 on the Haverthwaite course this time, on what was a windy night, with a stiff headwind on the way out and a tailwind some of the time on the way back.

It was a great result for Kev Chadwick – recording a time of 21:36 (!) for joint first first place with Henry Moss (BCW) – great result for both riders!  Well done Kev!

Chris Anderson was the next Lakes rider in, in a great 5th place with a time of 22:38 – nice one Chris.

There was a bit of a gap to the next Lakes rider, Richard Dixon in 12th with a 24:27, who again led the tight midfield battle, with James Bird riding his first ever TT to record an excellent 24:39 for 13th, pipping Phil Smith by just 1 second, with Jon Brown 11 seconds back for 15th.

Ian Barnes and Amy Whelan continued their domestic rivalry, with Ian only just shading it this time out, Ian recording 25:53 to Amy’s 25:57 – very close guys!  However, both recorded course PB’s, so well done to you both!

Richard Dixon was the sole Lakes RC representative in the Lancaster CC 10 mile TT held on the L1015 course on Saturday 9th June, recording a 23:01.

Well done everyone – good efforts all round and great t see the Lakes RC jerseys out there!
