Its still all go on the TT front, although there’s not been any Lakes RC riders in any open events over the last couple of weeks – but still busy in the local club events.
June 20th saw the running of the Barrow Central Wheelers Club event on the Coast Road – this was planned to be a 25 mile event but unfortunately it had to be cut short because of roadworks, so it reverted back to a 10 miler. A reduced field of 17 riders took the start, with Tom Martin (Wheelbase) winning in a time of 21:50 – hes really becoming the man to beat at the moment!
Chris Anderson was the first Lakes rider home in 5th place with a 24:02 – followed by Ian Barnes in 13th with a 27:58. Amy Whelan was next, 1 place behind in 14th with a 28:57, Chris Bugler came in just 3 seconds back with a 29:02 for 15th. Ian and Amy both recorded course PB’s – great ride guys, well done!
The following Wednesday the running of the 10 mile 2-up Team Time Trial, which is always fun! 10 teams of 2 took to the start in the baking heat – as well as 3 riders riding a solo TT.
The winning team was comprised of Lakes RC’s Kev Chadwick and 2nd claim Lakes rider Andy Whalley who smashed it with a time of 21:18 – great time.
The Lakes duo of Richard Dixon and John Lever set a time of 23:23 for fourth – as ever, very tight in the midfield, just 3 seconds off third and 3 seconds ahead of the fifth placed team.
Amy Whelan and Ian Barnes were the next Lakes RC pairing, the couple setting a very good time of 24:37 for 7th.
Finally, Paul Maxwell rode an individual TT and thoroughly enjoyed himself, at no point afterwards did he question why he’d put himself through it, setting a time of 27:41.
Great efforts all round – see you at the next event!
