There was a great turn out for the rescheduled BCW 10 mile TT on 31st May on the Coast Road course, with a field of 38 riders, including 11 Lakes Road Club riders.
It was a shame that the original Circuit of Coniston event had to be cancelled as a result of roadworks, but thanks to BCW for their efforts in still putting an event on.
It was a good night with a nice temperature and light winds, promising some good competition and the chance of some PB’s.
The fastest time of the night went to the flying Dave Huck with a superb 21:48. I’ll read that again…21:48! However, he was followed in 2nd place by yet another fantastic ride by Lakes RC’s own Kevin Chadwick with a 22:34 – yet another brilliant ride by Kev, still not at full fitness and really showing his class – brilliant ride Kev. Another great ride in 3rd place for Identity RT’s Michael Hall with a great 22:51 as well!
Two other classy veteran Lakes RC riders came in 10th and 11th – Chris Anderson in 10th with a 24:31 and Eamonn Quinn following close behind with a 24:57.
The next four places were covered by just 11 seconds, with Richard Dixon coming in at the tail end of that group with a 25:35 for 15th place, and a course PB.
There was a close battle for 17th place between Chris Bugler and Max Nicholson – with Chris coming out on top with a 26:13 versus Max’s 26:16! A special mention to Chris who recorded a PB – by a mahoosive 3 minutes 20 seconds! Can’t argue with that, great ride Chris. About time he put some effort in 😉
John Lever was just behind in 20th with a 26:25 – which matched to the second his course PB – so a great ride but just one second faster and a PB would have been all the sweeter! The beauty of it is, there’s always next time! John was followed by Shaun Anderson in 21st with a 26:31, another great ride. Shaun was Richard Dixon’s minute man and they had a great battle, passing and re-passing each other in the final quarter of the event!
They were followed by Mike Frear in 23rd with a 27:05, another great ride, and Robert Herdman put last weeks crash behind him to record a 28:00 for 26th place, and no crashes this time!. Another great battle between him and Josh Murphy, with Josh coming home just 6 seconds in arrears for 27th. A particularly good effort as rumour has has it that, just for a bit of training, Josh ran up (and back down) Coniston Old Man on the Tuesday night!
So, another good night of time trialling for all. Come along and give it a go – it would be great to get more Lakes riders involved!
