Lakes RC rider Brian Pearson (Peo) has visited the World Masters Championships in St Johann, Austria this summer, and has performed really well at an international level. He’s done a brief (and modest) report – see below:
As some of you know I have just spent some time racing in Austria. The first race was an 8 day stage race in Hartberg which consisted of a Prolog, Hill Climb, Criterium, 4 Road Stages and a TT. My best result was 2nd in crit and I finished in the top 6 places in the others.
After Hartberg we drove across to St Johann for the World Masters Cycling Federation events. In the World Cup race I had a bad day getting dropped on the climb on the second lap but managed to chase back on just before the finish but had nothing left to sprint but hung on for 25th place. My last race was the Masters World Champs, after suffering on the first lap due to the heat I recovered on the second but missed the break so I jumped away from the bunch with 5k to go and finished 10th which is my best finishing place in that event so happy with that.
If anyone fancies going over and racing and needs any info give me a shout.
So I think that Brian ended up with 10 trophies overall, including of course 10th in the World Masters Championships Road Race. Brilliant riding Peo, a great effort.
Not only that, Brian’s wife Els also rode some events and I believe won two trophies as well!
