Sunday 19th May saw the running of the TLI Cycling National Closed Circuit Championships, held once again at the fantastic Oulton Park motor racing circuit in Cheshire.
As some of you know, the TLI operates on an age related basis and there was a separate race for each age category.
A number of Lakes Road Club riders took part, with Kev Chadwick continuing his great form and getting a bloody brilliant 3rd place and podium spot in the ‘C’ category race. Kev and two other riders made a break for it and held off the chasing bunch for a 3 up sprint for the national title. the final result was as follows:
1st John Fiddies Team Lusso
2nd Andy Bennett Omnipex Bioracer Racing Team
3rd Kevin Chadwick Lakes Road Club
4th Paul Thursfield Graham Weigh Racing
Well done Kev, great result.
Jon Brown also jumped straight in at the deep end, entering his first race – the National Championships! Great effort JB! He wasn’t up for the win in the end but got round and finished the race – hats off, Jon great effort.
We also believe that Andy Whalley and John McMinn represented the Lakes RC in this event although we’ve no details – more will be posted as we get it.
Well done lads!

UPDATE:
Some further results for this event just in!
As well as the above riders, the following Lakes RC riders all rode at this event, all performing well:
Derek Leggett finished in the bunch in the D age category, John McMinn came 4th, just outside the medals in the E agecategory, with Brian Pearson just behind John in 7th. Young’ Andy Whalley finished in the bunch in the A category!
Well done lads, great efforts all round and some great results there.
